3. The Awful Truth, 1937
The Awful Truth is my absolute favorite screwball comedy. It never fails to get to me to laugh hysterically. Leo McCarey directs, and Grant and Irene Dunne star as a divorced couple who hate the idea that anyone else would marry the other one. Grant’s scenes with Ralph Bellamy are priceless.
