10. Only Angels Have Wings, 1939
Directed by Howard Hawks, Only Angels Have Wings was one of the many films Grant made in 1939. It gives him an opportunity to give a dramatic performance and he goes head-to-head with Jean Arthur. At the start, he’s cold towards Arthur, but begins to warm up to her as the film moves on. The film features fine acting throughout, but Grant is the standout here.
