Mitt Romney, how has run unsuccessfully for president twice, has decided that he will not try for a third time in 2016.

Romney made the announcement today during a conference call with advisers, then made a second call to supporters.
“After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, I’ve decided it is best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity to become our next nominee,” the former Massachusetts governor said in the call, reports the New York Times.
Romney added that he thinks he could have won the Republican nomination, but he thought stepping out of the race would be the best way to give the GOP a chance to win back the White House.
During the call, a transcript of which was posted on radio host Hugh Hewitt’s website, Romney explained why he thinks it is important for a conservative president to sit in the oval office after a two-term Democratic presidency.
“I feel that it is critical that America elect a conservative leader to become our next president. You know that I have wanted to be that president,” Romney explained. “But I do not want to make it more difficult for someone else to emerge who may have a better chance of becoming that president.”
Romney had been hinting that he might run in 2016 recently, with comments that infuriated some in GOP circles who would rather see a new face representing the party.
