Mindy Kaling thinks she's invisible in Nationwide Super Bowl commercial

Nationwide decided to ditch Peyton Manning for its Super Bowl XLIX commercial, instead calling on The Mindy Project star Mindy Kaling.

The former Office actress will star in the insurance company’s spot, titled “Invisible.” In it, Kaling decides that since she has been ignored by the outside world for so long that she must be invisible. So, she follows her dreams, which apparently include walking through a carwash and eating ice cream in a supermarket.

Nationwide has only released a 30-second teaser for the commercial, which ends with a big spoiler - Kaling is not invisible.

According to AdWeek, the commercial was created by their lead creative agency, McKinney, which took some ideas from Kaling. They also hired Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman to helm the spot.

“My writers and I had so much fun brainstorming ideas for this ad because it was all about wish fulfillment. For instance, I have always wanted to walk through a car wash, and then I got to do it for the ad!” Kaling said in a statement. "In this ad I was able to have fun fantasizing about all the ridiculous stuff you would do if you were invisible...and mischievous."

Other Super Bowl commercials and teasers have been posted by Victoria’s Secret and Carl’s Jr ahead of the game, which is on Feb. 1.
