Michael Moore tweets snipers are 'cowards' as Bradley Cooper's 'American Sniper' has stellar opening weekend

Filmmaker Michael Moore has some strong words for the hype surrounding Bradley Cooper’s American Sniper, which he shared on Twitter.

Moore, who’s the mastermind behind Fahrenheit 9/11, Sicko and Capitalism: A Love Story, called snipers “cowards” in a series of tweets.

“My uncle killed by sniper in WW2. We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren't heroes. And invaders r worse,” he wrote.

Moore added there are circumstances in which snipers are not cowards, when they’re defending their own home.

“But if you're on the roof of your home defending it from invaders who've come 7K miles, you are not a sniper, u are brave, u are a neighbor,” he continued.

CNN notes Moore has advocated stricter gun control laws.

Meanwhile, American Sniper, made over $90 million at the box office during its opening weekend and received six Oscar nominations on Thursday. The film is based on the deadliest sniper in the Navy SEALs.
