The directors of John Wick may have their next job lined up. Variety has reported that Universal is seeking David Leitch and Chad Stahelski to co-direct the gloriously-titled Chris Pratt-starrer Cowboy Ninja Viking.
The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name by writer A.J. Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo. The story follows a man suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder who the government turns into a super-soldier with the abilities of, naturally, a cowboy, a ninja and a Viking. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese wrote the script.
Pratt joined the film back in November, adding yet another film to his list of upcoming projects. Cowboy Ninja Viking has been put on the fast track in order to accommodate Pratt’s busy schedule. Pratt is already confirmed to star in The Magnificent Seven remake and the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy, and Disney also wants him to play Indiana Jones in that franchise reboot.
Leitch and Stahelski reportedly have Pratt’s approval, so chances are good that they’ll be joining the project soon. Prior to John Wick, the two worked primarily as second-unit directors and stunt coordinators.
