Jennifer Aniston really wanted recognition from the Oscars for her make-up free role in the indie drama Cake, but she didn’t get it. Considering she had a red carpet event to go to on Thursday night anyway, she has tried to put on a happy face, despite the disappointment.
“I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t even a little ‘Aw,’” she told Access Hollywood at the Critics’ Choice Awards Thursday night. “But then after that, there’s a lot of... like look at tonight, look at the Globes, look at SAG. We’ve got a wonderful embarrassment of riches for a movie that hasn’t even been released.”
In a Friday interview with the Huffington Post, Aniston said that she just found it “endearing” that she had support and people rooting for her to be nominated.
“It was almost just as good to be number one snubbed than to be nominated,” she chuckled.
Aniston’s snub was one of the many surprises from Thursday’s Oscar nominations. Since she was nominated at the Golden Globes and by the Screen Actors Guild, some expected her to get an Oscar nomination. Instead, her slot went to Two Days, One Night’s Marion Cotillard.
While she didn’t get that Oscar nomination, the former Friends star told E! News that she is still planning to take her career in different directions. She is starting to put together her directing debut.
Cake hits theaters nationwide on Jan. 23.
