Fox is busy building its line-up of the future and it is really starting to look like the network is out of original ideas. The network has ordered pilots for a series based on Minority Report and an American remake of Luther. In addition, a pilot inspired by Frankenstein is in development.
Back in October, it was first reported that the Frankenstein series was going into development. Rand Ravich and Howard Gordon’s pilot isn’t a direct adaptation of the Mary Shelley novel. Instead, it features a morally corrupt cop who is brought back from the dead.
Luther is actually being produced by the U.K. series’ star, Idris Elba. The one-hour pilot will feature a cop with a brilliant mind, but with violent habits that get in his way.
As for Minority Report, this is based on Steven Spielberg’s 2002 cult sci-fi film with Tom Cruise. According to Deadline, the series is planned as a sequel to the movie. Mark Mylod (The Affair) is directing and Max Borenstein (Godzilla) is writing.
Entertainment Weekly reports that another drama pilot Fox picked up is titled Rosewood, which centers on a Miami pathologist who annoys a female detective he works with.
Lastly, the single cam comedy pilot 48 Hours ‘Til Monday centers on a husband who tries to get the most out of his weekends.
