Former Minnesota governor, Jesse Ventura, begs to differ with the general consensus of the real-life American Sniper, Chris Kyle, portrayed by Bradley Cooper.
Ventura called Kyle, who died at the hands of a fellow veteran on a gun range in 2013, a “liar.”
“A hero must be honorable, must have honor. And you can't have honor if you're a liar. There is no honor in lying,” Ventura, also a former Navy SEAL, told The AP.
No surprise here – Ventura also said he won’t be paying to go see the film. “It's as authentic as Dirty Harry," he said of another Clint Eastwood film.
Ventura’s problems with Kyle date back to 2012 when he filed a lawsuit against the most deadly sniper in U.S. history for comments he wrote in his memoir.
Kyle referred to someone named Scruff Face (Ventura) saying the SEALS “deserve to lose a few" in Iraq back in 2006. He won the defamation lawsuit so the part about Scruff Face has been taken out of the book and it is not brought up in the film.
