American Sniper has surely made a big splash since hitting theaters this past weekend, mostly due to a debate over snipers.
Michael Moore, Seth Rogen, Sarah Palin and others all jumped in the debate on social media after Moore called snipers “cowards” on Monday. But that isn’t the only topic that’s being discussed in relation to the film.
ABC News notes while Bradley Cooper did earn an Oscar nomination for his role as Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, there was one scene that he just could not make believable.
In the scene, Cooper is having a heated conversation with Sienna Miller, who plays Kyle’s now-widow Taye Kyle. He’s holding their baby, but viewers couldn’t help but notice it was a plastic baby.
The film - which made $90.2 million in its opening weekend - is now drawing some controversy considering its reported $23 million budget. Did they not want to spend money on hiring a real-life baby?
As expected, a hashtag called #FakeBaby started on Twitter and here are some reactions:
#FakeBaby Hey Clint Eastwood, if you make a sequel, I'm sure @SethMacFarlane will let Stewie fill in - more realistic than your doll. @gma

A Cabbage Patch Kid would have been more realistic then the fake baby in #AmericanSniper #FakeBaby
