Nancy Grace really doesn’t like marijuana, so it was a little strange for her to have 2 Chainz on her show yesterday. The two debated about legalizing marijuana and Grace pushed the “think of the children” card during the segment.
After patting 2 Chainz on the back for his background as a great college student and noting that his real-life persona is different from his rap persona, Grace finally got to the question she wanted to ask him. She showed a video of a young toddler smoking marijuana made by her mother.
2 Chainz said that this was just one case and he felt that the mother was really “irresponsible” in the case.
“Anybody who loves their kid definitely knows not to put them in harm’s way,” 2 Chainz said. “So I don’t agree with that at all. I mean, she might have mental issues. It might be something deeper than a joint, I believe.”
Grace shot back, noting that if marijuana is legalized, that means everyone - including those irresponsible - could get their hands on it.
“I’m not sure if you know, but everyone has the ability to get their hands on pot now,” the rapper replied. He said that he’s advocating for legalizing marijuana so that it helps out the justice system, like lowering prison population for example.
Despite the back-and-forth, 2 Chainz said that he would debate Grace again.
