4. Gone Girl, David Fincher
Gone Girl moved as quickly as Gillian Flynn’s book did. Expertly cast, Fincher and Flynn take the film from Law & Order procedural to twisted crime spree with a touch of Network mixed in. The director used the cutting back and forth between Amy’s diary and Nick’s hell during the first portion much better than I was expecting. Fincher again proved that he can translate a book to the screen and make it his own. And let’s give Rosamund Pike an Oscar nomination, please?
