2. Birdman, Alejandro G. Inarritu
At some point, Alejandro G. Inarritu must have decided that he’d had enough of drama and needed to make a comedy. Of course, if you have a movie like Babel on your resume though, you aren’t going to completely leave drama behind and the director certainly didn’t for Birdman. Michael Keaton gives one of the best performances of the decade and his Oscar is the only sure thing this awards season. The one long shot gimmick also isn’t as intrusive as you might think, considering that the film takes place over a long period of time. Plus, Keaton has a sterling supporting cast here. Emma Stone definitely has some skills to stand up to Keaton and Edward Norton is back.
