An elementary school teacher in Texas accused of using anti-Muslim slurs and making comments about President Barack Obama contracting Ebola, has resigned.

The Houston Chronicle noted that Angela Box resigned from her teaching position, but will receive pay for the next three months per a deal approved by the school board Thursday.

Box reportedly made racist comments during an interview on a conservative Internet talk show called Tommy's Garage.

The third grade teacher allegedly called Muslims “bacon-haters” and asked why Ebola can’t just “take out Obama?”

School officials did not immediately take any action against Box stating that what she may have said was within her First Ammnendement right. However, concerned parents called for her to resign from the classroom. Eventually, the Houston Independent School District approved her resignation 6-0.

Box has denied that she is a racist and disputed claims by community activist Quanell X that she used the n-word.

"I don't believe in judging people by the color of their skin. I, actually, like Martin Luther King did, shockingly, judge people by the content of their character," Box told KHOU last month.
