4. Athletes do the Ice Bucket Challenge
In 2014, the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS became a social media phenomenon. Athletes were lining up to get water dumped on them and challenging their peers to do the same for a great cause. One person would make a donation, nominate people they wanted to see take the challenge and have a bucket of ice-cold water or ice mixed with water poured over their head. A video was then posted online to acknowledge that they completed the task. There was no shortage of sports stars who completed the challenge to help raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
