5. Donald Sterling audio released

The saga of disgraced former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling began in April after TMZ released an audio recording of the 80-year-old expressing racist views to his girlfriend, V. Stiviano. The National Basketball Association conducted an investigation and league Commissioner Adam Silver ultimately fined Sterling $2.5 million and banned him from the NBA for life.

In May, businessman Steve Ballmer placed a bid to purchase the Clippers and officially became the new owner in August.
