Mark Wahlberg revealed that to get into character for his newest film, The Gambler, he did some gambling of his own. In the process, he lost $45,000.
Wahlberg, who is currently trying to wipe his wipe 1988 assault charge from his record, stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night and explained himself.
"I hit blackjack three times. Needless to say, I won a lot of money," he said, which seemed promising.
But to really get into character – he had to take some risky moves. He said he was at the Wynn casino in Macau, China when it went down.
“Like my character in the movie, I took every chip off the table and walked right over to the roulette wheel, put it all on black ... and lost everything,” he said, People reports.
The Gambler is a remake of the 1974 film starring James Caan as a professor with a severe gambling addiction.
