Jim Carrey is well aware that his portrayal of The Riddler would not fit in the current DC movie universe, but the Dumb and Dumber To star would still like play the character again if given a chance.
“I'd love to work in the new, graphic novel versions of the movie,” Carrey told MTV UK while promoting his latest movie. “I don't know about reprising the role, I don't know if Chris Nolan would go for that. I'd love to work with him.”
Of course, it does sound like Carrey is out of the loop when it comes to the current DC movies. Nolan no longer has any say, since he is not working on Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, if Zack Snyder wants to use The Riddler in a future Batman movie, he should give Carrey a call. Perhaps an older Carrey, far removed from his glory days as the biggest comedy star in Hollywood, could give a darker performance as The Riddler than his flamboyant one in Batman Forever.
There is one other interesting tidbit in that MTV UK interview, as CinemaBlend points out. He claims that he worked on a Howard Hughes biopic with Nolan. However, they decided to cancel it because of Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator. Carrey expressed interest in reviving that project and said he’s love to work with the Interstellar director someday.
In other Carrey news, Deadline is reporting that he has signed on to do Deep Cover for Red Granite, which also financed Dumb and Dumber To.
