Darren Aronofsky attached to serial killer film 'The Good Nurse'

No stranger to grim subject matter, Darren Aronofsky may soon be tackling the serial killer film The Good Nurse.

Listed very briefly on The Tracking Board’s 2014 Hit List is a note under the entry Aether that indicates Aronofsky’s involvement. The site said that Aether’s screenwriter, Krysty Wilson-Cairns, is adapting The Good Nurse for the Noah director. The film will be a Lionsgate picture.

As Indiewire noted, Aronofsky’s specific involvement is currently unknown, and it’s possible that he may not pursue this project. He has also been working on adapting Margaret Atwood’s MaddWorld for HBO.

JoBlo.com revealed the synopsis of the real-life story, which was recounted in Charles Graeber’s 2013 book of the same name. The “good nurse” of the title is Charles Cullen, a registered nurse who was implicated in the deaths of over 300 patients, making him one of the most prolific serial killers in American history. The book weaved this story together with police reports, interviews and recordings, which will give Wilson-Cairns plenty to work with.
