For someone who hasn’t released new music in over a year, Avril Lavigne has found a way to stay in the news these past few weeks, from speculation that her marriage is over to a mystery illness. Now, she’s hitting back against rumors that she has been in rehab.
Lavigne has been very active on Twitter this week to send holiday wishes to her fans. Among the photos, she tweeted that the rehab rumors are “hilarious.” She added, “The only thing I'm addicted to right now is Bing Crosby. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! and to all a goodnight!”
Speculation that she was in rehab started after she announced earlier this month that she is suffering from a mystery illness. She apparently came forward about it in a private Twitter DM chat with a fan page and her rep later confirmed to Billboard that she was suffering, but would specify what illness she came down with.
According to ABC News, the “Hello Kitty” singer’s rep has not issued any further comment on her illness.
In addition to questions over her health, in November, she and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger had to deny rumors that they were going to get a divorce.
Lavigne's latest album was Avril Lavigne, which was released in November 2013.
