Alamo Drafthouse Dallas showing 'Team America: World Police' in place of 'The Interview'

The small, but always awesome Texas theater chain Alamo Drafthouse had planned on showing The Interview on Christmas Day, but since Sony Pictures won’t release it, they came up with an even better idea. The theater in Dallas is going to show Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Team America: World Police instead.

After AMC, Regal and other major theater chains announced that they would not show the film, Alamo Drafthouse management tweeted that they would still show the film. However, Sony then scrapped the film’s release.

So, in its place, they will show the hilarious cult classic, 2004’s Team America: World Police, in which the South Park creators use marionettes to poke fun at America’s foreign policy at the time, as Variety points out. It centers on a group of Americans sent to stop Kim Jong Un’s father, Kim Jong Il, from destroying the world. Because, “Team America... F**K YEAH!”

The Alamo Drafthouse chain also has locations in Richardson and Las Colinas. The chain is famous for its no-tolerance policy on texting and talking during movies.
