The first film to win the Best Picture Oscar (and the only really silent movie to do so) holds up remarkably well today. It’s the story of two pilots who were in love with the same girl (Clara Bow) and then sent off to fight. William A. Wellman, a pilot himself, inserts unbelievable dogfights, all without the help of modern technology.
