The network switch has done American Dad! well. Despite moving from broadcast to basic cable, the Seth MacFarlane show has thrived on TBS and the network just renewed it for another season.

American Dad! began on Fox in 2005 and officially moved to TBS after last season. It began in October, averaging 3.1 million viewers for new episode premieres on TBS and Adult Swim.

The new season will feature another 22 episodes. It is produced by 20th Century Fox TV and was created by MacFarlane (Family Guy), Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman.

“We are thrilled with American Dad!’s performance to date and are confident the show is going to continue its tremendous success," Deborah K. Bradley, executive vice president, head of program acquisitions, content strategy and licensing for TBS said in a statement.

Bradley explained that putting in the renewal early will ensure "that Seth MacFarlane and his team will have the freedom to take the misadventures of the CIA agent Stan Smith and his family to a whole new level."

New episodes of American Dad! premiere on Mondays at 9 p.m. You can check out our latest recap right here.
