Elsa and Anna from 'Frozen' best Barbie in most popular holiday toy

Elsa and Anna from Disney’s Frozen have officially become more popular than the decades-old favorite – Barbie.

In a National Retail Federation survey, parents indicated they’re more likely to buy their children dolls of the famous ice sisters rather than a Barbie-related toy.

The AP reports this is the first time in 11 years that Barbie hasn’t landed at the No. 1 spot in the survey.

Twenty percent of parents said they’re planning on buying something Frozen-related, while 16 percent said they would be sticking to Barbie merchandise.

This isn’t too surprising, judging by the amount of money Frozen has made for Disney so far.

Entertainment Weekly notes the movie has grossed over a billion dollars so far, becoming the highest grossing animated Disney movie of all time.

Earlier this month we reported Disney Consumer Products has revealed that more than 3 million costumes of Elsa and Anna have been sold in the past year. Ironically, the teen who voiced Elsa in the film only earned $926.20 for her role.
