Doctor Doom undergoes major change for 'Fantastic Four' reboot, says Toby Kebbell

Even though 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot opens in June 2016, we know surprisingly little about the movie beyond its cast. Now, it appears that the actors are finally being allowed to talk about it, since Toby Kebbell recently revealed how different the villain, Doctor Doom will be.

In an interview with Collider, Monday, Kebbell said that Doom’s real name isn’t Victor Von Doom, but Victor Domashev. “The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer,” he continued. “Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m ‘Doom.’”

Kebbell also revealed that the director, Chronicle’s Josh Trank, made the movie very realistic.

As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Kebbell also spoke with IGN about the changes in accent. While the character is Eastern European, he’ll have a bit of an American accent. In the cartoons, Kebbell noted, Doom was Eastern European but had an English accent because he had been in England.

“Now this is Doom, or Domashev as we’ve got him in this movie, he’s in America, so I did the American accent with that kind of hint, that accent,” Kebbell said.

Kebbell got the part in April and in August, images from the set leaked, showing a very different looking Doom. However, he still had a familiar green hood and cape.

Fantastic Four will star Kate Mara, Jaime Bell, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan as the Marvel super hero team. The film will be released on Aug. 7, 2015. Fox has already scheduled a sequel for 2017.
