"Marvel knows how to build hype and has shared every stop of its process with fans. The studio held a special event at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood today, where it unveiled its entire Phase 3 slate.
Ant-Man comes out before Phase 3 started and we have known for awhile that it is coming out on July 17, 2015, just after Avengers: Age of Ultron’s release on May 1. However, Marvel picked up today’s announcements with Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Derrickson.
Strange will star Benedict Cumberbatch and is slated for release on Nov. 4, 2016, Marvel’s Ryan Penagos tweeted. Mashable’s Josh Dickey tweeted that Marvel wasn’t quite ready to confirm Cumberbatch or any actor for the Strange part.
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will follow in May 2017 and Thor: Ragnarok opens in July, 2017. That will be followed by the most exciting new movie announced, Black Panther. Marvel confirmed that 42 star Chadwick Boseman will get to play the title character.
Captain Marvel and Inhumans will be out in 2018, while the two-part Avengers: Infinity War will be rolled out in May 2018 and May 2019. The Infinity War films will finish out Phase 3.
