Jennifer Lawrence recognized as highest-grossing movie heroine thanks to 'Hunger Games'

Jennifer Lawrence can put that hacking scandal behind her, at least for the moment. The Oscar winning actress has been recognized as the highest-grossing movie heroine, all thanks to the Hunger Games... and there’s still two more movies in the franchise left.

Guinness World Records announced earlier this week that Lawrence will be included in the 2015 edition, which will be out on Sept. 11. As the star of The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, she is easily the top-grossing action movie heroine. The films have grossed a combined $1.52 billion globally.

Catching Fire will also be recognized as the top-grossing post-apocalyptic movie, having earned $854 million globally.

Lawrence stars in the series as Katniss Everdeen. The series, based on the books by Suzanne Collins, will continue on Nov. 21 with Mockingjay - Part 1. The second half of Lionsgate’s adaptation of the last book will be out on Nov. 20, 2015.

Speaking of Mockingjay, Lionsgate released a series of character posters this week, although Katniss’ poster focused on her back. Apparently, just seeing Katniss’ face is a spoiler (at least for those who haven’t read the book).

Guinness will also officially recognize HBO’s Game of Thrones as the most-pirated show in history. The fourth season finale shattered the show’s previous record for piracy. TorrentFreak has said that each episode is downloaded roughly 5.9 million times.
