Cee Lo Green’s music career is continuing to be affected by the personal turmoil in his life, which saw him accepting a plea deal in the case involving a woman claiming he had drugged and raped her. He also made some controversial statements on Twitter about the definition of rape.
Last week, he deleted his Twitter account and apologized after tweeting “If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously. People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!"
According to TMZ, the Gretna Heritage Festival in Louisiana dropped Green from his headlining spot on their roster. He was also cut from his The Freedom Live appearance, and they confirmed it was due to his rape comments.
On Friday, the Gretna festival posted to Facebook, “CeeLo Green has been removed from the #GretnaFest line-up, as he does not represent the festival’s wholesome family environment.”
MTV News reports Freedom Live said in a statement that Green’s comments were “completely inconsistent with Navy core values.”
