It looks like the Internet forgot what a homophone is. Despite a satirical news site using one grammatically correct, the Internet still believed that America’s beloved 92-year-old comedienne Betty White had died.

A site called Empire News ran a headline that read “Betty White, 92, dyes peacefully in her Los Angeles home.” That was followed by a story about how much the former Golden Girls star loves dying her hair, since she is not a natural blonde, according to the “friend” quoted in the story.

Of course, some people did not read beyond the headline and didn’t even get that she didn’t “die,” but “dyed.” That left people tweeting premature tributes to Betty White. However, now that we have all wised up, news sites are quickly getting the word out on Twitter that she has not died.

“She is on the set shooting Hot in Cleveland right now,” her agent, Jeff Witjas, told The Los Angeles Times.

After the number of deaths the Hollywood community has dealt with in recent months, we can certainly say we’re happy Betty is still with us.
