Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) set the standard for women in an action sci-fi role. Ripley was powerful, in charge and captured the screen with her every move. Weaver’s performance helped to empower women in the sci-fi genre because she held her own with the men on screen and defeated the aliens.
