3) Cam Newton, Auburn
What keeps Cam Newton off the top spot is the fact that he only really played for one season. After not being able to earn a starting spot at Florida, Newton transferred to a junior college for a season, before playing his final year at Auburn in 2010. However, in that one year, Newton cemented himself as a college football legend, as he single-handedly won the National Championship for the Tigers. Newton threw for 30 touchdowns, and rushed for 20 more, not to mention the 6'6 freak of an athlete also caught a touchdown pass. Newton guided the Tigers to an undefeated season, which included spectacular performances against the likes of LSU and Alabama. Newtown would win the Heisman, Maxwell, AP Player of the Year, and pretty much every other individual award before being taken with the first overall pick in the NFL draft.
