The new remake of Tobe Hooper's classic Poltergeist will be hitting theaters a few months later than expected.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Fox has delayed the horror remake five months, moving it from February 13, 2015 to July 24, 2015.
Poltergeist will no longer have to compete with 50 Shades of Grey, which would have opened the same weekend in February. Poltergeist is now the only major horror release currently scheduled for July.
Fox likely hopes to follow in the footsteps of 2013's The Conjuring, which also opened in July and was a massive success. According to Box Office Mojo, the film made $318 million worldwide on a $20 million budget, proving that horror can be a hit during this period of the summer.
As we previously reported, Poltergeist will be directed by Gail Kenan, best known for the 2006 animated film Monster House. Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Spider-Man) is set to produce.
The remake will star Sam Rockwell, Jared Harris, and Rosemarie DeWitt. Not much is known about the plot at this time, but according to Bloody Disgusting, it will reimagine and contemporize the classic story from the Tobe Hooper film.
