Star Wars fans can rejoice as even more of the epic franchise’s presence will be integrated into the Walt Disney theme parks.
Reuters reported that on Tuesday, Chairman and Chief Executive Bob Iger said that the company is working on plans to bring more Star Wars into its parks and resorts.
The reason for more of the popular franchise at the parks is because it will almost certainly drive in more revenue.
The Los Angeles Times noted that Disney's parks and resorts have posted an operating income of $848 million, which is a gain of 23 percent from the previous year. The entertainment and media company said that the positive showing was due in part to the growth at its domestic properties.
In 2012, the Walt Disney Co. purchased the franchise from Lucasfilm Ltd. for more than $4 billion.
Currently, the 3D motion simulator attraction Star Tours are featured at several Disney parks. While on the tours, passengers encounter some of the film’s famous characters and are sent to destinations in a galaxy far far away.
Details of the plans will be announced in 2015.
