8: Facing Mortality
A dark subject made even darker by the tragedy of Williams death. However, the subject of mortality was not a foreign subject to Williams, it was one he explored in various roles, but none so directly as in Francis Ford Coppola’s Jack. As a child with a rare aging disease, Williams’s character is forced through many awkward situations and decisions. Ultimately he chooses to simply live his life as though normal, and do what makes him happy. What is most important is to live like there is no tomorrow, accept what you can’t change, and simply focus on joy.
