10. Viserys Targaryen
What can I say about the mother of dragons, Daenerys, brother Viserys? When we first meet the man he is explaining to Dani the process of her arranged marriage to Kahl Drogo and how she will do whatever he commands. While at first it may have appeared he was behaving in her best interest to protect her and truly elevate their lifestyle, viewers quickly learn that Viserys is truly only working in his own interest to help himself gain an army so he can take back the Iron Throne.
Viserys turns out to not be a nice person at all as he confesses he would let an entire army of men rape his sister if it meant getting what he wanted out of it. And even after Daenerys and Khal Drogo do wed, Viserys expects to be treated like an Emperor, which in some marriages that may be the case but for the Dothraki, he is still considered beneath his sister as she is the one married to the Khal (King) and he is not.
Over the span of the first season Viserys continues to become more and more infuriating to watch as his attitude worsens and Deanerys eventually stands up to her brother by telling him that the next time he strikes her, he will no longer have a hand to do so.
As for his death, he makes the list due to his relationship with his younger sister and the fact she ordered the murder to occur. Viserys demands that he is given his golden crown which leads to Khal Drogo melting his own possessions to create liquid gold and silver. The guards quickly grab onto Viserys and Khal Drogo pours the fiery hot and melted liquid onto his skull as he screams in pain until he passes out on the floor dead.
Not only is his death difficult to look at as we watch his skin burn but it reminds the audience that not even family relationships are safe on the show as even a brother and sister can turn on each other in the case of a different heart. Also the fact that it was Daenerys who ordered the death and the chilling, “He was no Dragon. Fire cannot kill a dragon.”
