3. Under the Skin
While at times certainly frustrating, this captivatingly bizarre film marks itself as one of the most unusually brilliant movies of the year.
Featuring what could very well be Scarlett Johansson best performance to date, this bravely conceived film plays out like The Man Who Fell to Earth of its day, with some memorably bleak, but gorgeously conceived, imagery, thoughtful commentary, great direction and some of the bravest performances seen in a movie of this kind in some time, this unusual sci-fi flick will not please some for sure. Not to mention the best score of the year.
But, if people can open their minds a little, they may see just how boldly captivating this movie truly is.
