Nominated for Best Foreign Film at this year’s Oscars ceremony, this grounded film from writer/director Hany Abu-Assad does fall into some of the trappings of its American-thriller inspirations. But, through some great editing, strong direction and driven performances, it makes an impact, despite its occasionally wonky screenplay conventions.
