Deadline reported that the film will be a retelling of the popular Point Break storyline and that the action film will be directed by Ericson Core. Core is known for his work on the 2006 sports film, Invincible, which featured Mark Wahlberg in the lead role.

Cinemablend added that no information has surfaced yet as to which role Palmer will be playing in the remake.
