James Franco did show up on Lindsay Lohan’s rumored “sex list,” but he has claimed that he didn’t have sex with the troubled actress. However, Franco must have still believed that he needed to spell out that he did not sleep with her, so he wrote a piece about a night they spent in a hotel room together.
Franco said back in March that he didn’t have sex with her and then told Howard Stern the same. However, he did say that he kissed her.
But that’s not the end, of course. Using the writing side of his brain, Franco went to Vice Magazine, which published his new short story, “Bungalow 89.” In the piece, he describes how he had a night with a “fictional Hollywood Girl,” named Lindsay, who apparently arrived at his hotel room in pajamas and bare feet, then he read her a bedtime story. They did not have sex, but talked....and talked.
“I ran my fingers through her hair and thought about this girl sleeping on my chest, our fictional Hollywood girl, Lindsay. What will she do? I hope she gets better,” Franco writes. “You see, she is famous. She was famous because she was a talented child actress, and now she’s famous because she gets into trouble.”
If this character is not supposed to be Lohan, Franco did a pretty poor job of making that clear. He notes that this Lindsay’s problems made it impossible for her to work, since no one would insure her.
“Her career suffered, and she started getting arrested (stealing, DUIs, car accidents, other things). But the arrests, even as they added up, were never going to be an emotional bottom for her, because she got just as much attention for them as she used to get for her film performances,” Franco continued. “She would get money offers for her jailhouse memoirs, crazy offers. So how would she ever stop the craziness when the response to her work and the response to her life had converged into one? Two kinds of performance, in film and in life, had melted into one.”
Franco drops names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Gus Van Sant and more to apparently remind the reader that he has famous friends. The Lindsay character also tells a story about an after party with Franco and Meryl Streep’s children.
Clearly, Franco might not have had sex with Lohan, but he does not want us to stop thinking about the possibility that they did.
