The Millennium Falcon broke Han Solo’s leg, not his ankle. Harrison Ford’s rep has confirmed that the actor is doing better, but said that he actually broke his leg in the accident while filming Star Wars: Episode VII.
In a statement to the BBC, rep Ina Treciokas also said that the surgery was “successful” and he “will begin rehab shortly.” She added, “He's doing well and looks forward to returning to work.”
Last week, Disney and Lucasfilm said that Ford, 71, had hurt his ankle and that he was rushed to the hospital. He was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where his wife, Calista Flockhart, has joined him.
While Treciokas did not give Ford’s recovery a specific timetable, U.K. tabloids reported earlier this week that he is expected to miss as much as eight weeks of filming.
Disney is still expecting to be able to work on the film while Ford recovers from the injury. Director J.J. Abrams has brought together a huge ensemble, that includes Star Wars vets Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, plus franchise newbies Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and John Boyega. Han Solo can’t be in every scene, so Abrams and the cast should have plenty to do.
Meanwhile, someone should really tell Ford not to do his own stunts, but never tell him the odds.
