The sexually charged “Little Red Corvette” describes a promiscuous woman, the “corvette”, and uses car metaphors throughout to describe their sexual endeavors. The song proved as a starting crossover for Prince having charted better in the Billboard pop charts than the R&B charts. Dez Dickerson actually provided the iconic guitar solo in the song, who left The Revolution after the 1999 tour.
