'Spider-Man' spinoff 'Sinister Six' lands director

The Spider-Man universe is moving forward and has found the director that they are hoping to work with for the upcoming Sinister Six feature film. Drew Goddard is currently in negotiations to direct the film which will focus on the villains in the Spider-Man universe.

Back in December, Marvel Entertainment announced that they would be moving forward with Sinister Six and Venom. Gobbard was brought on to write Six but he has now started negotiations to helm the film, Variety reported.

Both movies that will focus on villains are being produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. This is a move from Sony to help to expand their universe. Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man even though the character is from Marvel.

The Hollywood Reporter explained that even though Marc Webb, who directed The Amazing Spider-Man and the upcoming sequel, would not be directing Six he will be working with Sony to help construct and move this new cinematic universe.

The "Sinister Six" first came together back in 1964. The team of supervillains include, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman and the Vulture.
