Beyonce’s OUT magazine cover has been revealed, showing the “XO” singer in her first feature since dropping her surprise self-titled album. The singer appears on the cover of their Power Issue.
A bleach blonde, topless Beyonce opens up about sexuality, something she said she was free to portray in her last album, in the May issue.
"There is unbelievable power in ownership, and women should own their sexuality. There is a double standard when it comes to sexuality that still persists. Men are free and women are not. That is crazy,” she told Out.
She continued, “The old lessons of submissiveness and fragility made us victims. Women are so much more than that. You can be a businesswoman, a mother, an artist, and a feminist—whatever you want to be—and still be a sexual being. It's not mutually exclusive."
The “Drunk in Love” singer, mother to Blue Ivy Carter and wife to Jay Z, spoke via e-mail to the magazine and talked about being open and honest on her newest album.
“I needed to free myself from the pressures and expectations of what I thought I should say or be, and just speak from the heart,” she said.
E! Online notes Beyonce, a self-described feminist, said she hopes to inspire others with her message of “human rights and equality, not just that between a woman and a man.”
