6. Planet of the Apes
At number six we have 1968’s Planet of the Apes. The film is one of the best known science fiction films, and has been preserved in the National Film Registry. It featured groundbreaking prosthetics and makeup. The film received an honorary Academy Award for John Chambers’ makeup work in the film. It was also nominated for two other Academy Awards.
