3. Elf
This likeable 2003 Christmas movie is notable for Will Ferrell’s childlike performance in his quest to reconnect with his real parents after a lifetime as one of Santa’s elves. Dinklage, playing successful children’s writer Miles Finch, comes close to stealing Ferrell’s thunder in their single onscreen meeting. After Ferrell calls the irritable Finch an elf, Dinklage allows the scene’s awkwardness to simmer into a hilarious brawl.
