5. “Mother Night”
This novel does a diligent job at challenging the reader’s moral compass. The plot follows a World War II spy who doubles as a Nazi war criminal, who must face trial in Israel. Vonnegut blurs the line between right and wrong and emerges the reader into a deep abyss between the two.
