At number2 is 1997’s As Good as it Gets. The film stars Nicholson as Melvin Udall, a novelist with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Through the course of the film he begins to form lasting relationships with his gay neighbor, and a romantic relationship with his waitress, who happens to be the mother of a sick child. It was the first film since 1991’s The Silence of the Lambs to take home the Academy Awards for both Best Actor and Actress.
