2. Maureen O'Hara
One of Ireland's most beloved actresses, Maureen O'Hara became a star from early childhood. Born in Ranelagh, Dublin, she attended Ireland's Abbey Theatre at age 14 and performed in her first films Jamaica Inn (1939) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939). Her more noteworthy films include Miracle on 34th Street (1947), How Green Was My Valley (1941) and The Parent Trap (1961). Her characters are known for their feminine strength and beauty, and many remember her from the films The Quiet Man (1952) and McClintock! (1963) with John Wayne.
During her career, O'Hara won five awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Irish Film and Television Awards. In 1960, her name was engraved on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
