8. Metallics
A trend that never seems to go out of style is a good metallic outfit. Metallics can go either way meaning that they can be either very punk-rock or very classic. The stars at this year’s Academy Awards chose to take the more classic metallic route. Star Jennifer Garner showed off her metallic silver fringe dress that reminded one of the 1920s flapper girls. Jessica Biel stunned in a light metallic form fitting Chanel Couture dress. Another metallic gown was worn by Angelina Jolie, who opted for a long-sleeved silver frock. Some question if it really flattered her figure or not as well. As for Kristen Chenoweth, she looked like the Oscar herself wearing a bright golden dress.
7. Form fitting
The overall silhouette of the majority of gowns this year were very form- fitting. Only a few stand-out ladies had flowing dresses that fell away from their bodies. Previously mentioned stars, Naomi Watts and Lady Gaga both wore skin-tight gowns that showed off their figures. Other leading ladies that joined them were Jennifer Lawrence who wore a vibrant red, form-fitting gown and Anne Hathaway who pulled off a punk-rock form-fitting gown.
