1. The Simpsons
It had to be here. And I make no apologies for it, although I won't deny it hasn't been nearly as good as it once was for at least 10 years, but the first ten years of The Simpsons are unparalleled in TV comedy, let alone animated series.
Animated series are founded on an ability to combine disparate types of jokes, from pop culture references to character-based to dark humor to surrealism. And I'd argue it's never quite been replicated.
